Thy Kingdom Come 2020

21st May (Ascension Day) to 31st May (Pentecost Sunday)

‘In praying ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ we all commit to playing our part in the renewal of the nations and the transformation of communities’.
(Archbishop Justin Welby).

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray for more people to come to know Jesus.

Since its start in May 2016, God has grown ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ from a dream of a possibility into a movement. In 2019 Christians from 172 countries took part in praying ‘Come Holy Spirit’, so that friends and family, neighbours and colleagues might come to faith in Jesus Christ.

During the 11 days of Thy Kingdom Come it is hoped that everyone who takes part will:

Deepen their own relationship with Christ.

Pray for 5 friends or family to come to faith in Christ.

Pray for the empowerment of the Spirit that we would be effective in our witness.

For the last 4 years we have participated in this global movement of prayer at St Mary’s and we are committed to doing so again this year. We have previously met in the church on a daily basis, prayed within our Home Groups and so on. This year will have to be different, but it gives us the opportunity to commit to pray even though we cannot meet together.

The ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ website www.thykingdomcome.global gives many suggestions as to how we might get involved. There are resources for daily prayer, Family Prayer Adventures, an app for phones giving daily readings, prayers, meditations and a podcast by N.T.Wright. and more.

If you go to www.thykingdomcome.global/resources/key-resources-2020 you will be able to find the various resources for download, free. You can also buy paper copies from there too.

There are many ideas you can choose from. To start with I would suggest looking at the ‘Prayer Journal 2020’, the ‘Novena 2020’ and for families ‘The Digital Family Prayer Adventure’. Consider downloading the app ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ for your smart phone from your app store or google store.

We don’t just have to do this at home. Why not combine your prayer time with a walk, or use music or art to help you? However you do it give it a go!

If you are having difficulty getting into all this let me know and I will try to help. (01256 773649, dvdspencer05@gmail.com ). I will be sending out some encouraging messages during the 11 days and anything which comes from Thy Kingdom Come to help.
